According to a new UN report, water used by AI is expected to equal the needs of 1.3 billion people by 2030. Its energy consumption could equal 3% of the world’s electricity, resulting in carbon emissions equal to the UK. Large data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons per day in order to keep servers cool and use as much electricity as 100,000 households.
