Meet the Silver Y moth! Filmed in slow-mo by our Woodland Officer, Nick, at Ryton Wood. Its feeding on Devil’s-bit Scabious, a late-flowering plant that provides nectar late into September, and you can see it moving its proboscis into the individual florets on the flower head. These moths migrate from the continent and lots have been seen this year.
