A quiet wander around St Andrew’s Church at Kiln Pit Hill this sunrise, with the Hopper Mausoleum standing out on the edge of the churchyard. The light came in soft over the fields, picking out the stonework in that way it only does first thing. The church has been serving the area since the 18th century, and the mausoleum is a reminder of the Hopper family who shaped this corner of Northumberland long before the roads and wind farms arrived.
