Today is the feast of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, better known as Padre Pio. Born in 1887, Padre Pio decided at a young age to dedicate his life to God. He became a Franciscan and was known for hearing confession for hours at a time. He was also known for patient suffering, fervent prayer and compassionate spiritual guidance.
