A rumour that dogs are being taken from Bhatkal town in Karnataka to prepare biryani has triggered a controversy in the area. The rumour started when some people were bitten by stray dogs after which around 22 dogs were rounded up to be released at another location. Some miscreants took videos of the dogs being rounded up and spread the rumour that they were being taken to prepare biryani.
