Happy St Patrick's Day! This shamrock-shaped box was originally presented to George IV on his visit to Ireland in 1821. It was sold in 1830 and came back into the Royal Collection in 1902 when it was presented to King Edward VII. The central plaque shows George IV’s cypher and an Irish inscription which reads 'Go mbeannughudh Dia thu' meaning 'may God bless you'. The box will be part of our next exhibition – The Edwardians: Age of Elegance – opening at The King’s Gallery, London in April. https:
