Happy World Giraffe Day! Taking care of the giraffes at the Cincinnati Zoo includes feeding, cleaning, enrichment, training and health care! Come along as keepers Melina and Teresa show you a training session with Tessa the giraffe! Hundreds of hours and thousands of crackers went into teaching the giraffes to participate in their own health care. The ability to perform maintenance with the animal’s cooperation allows the team to do regular checkups without the risks associated with anesthesia.

Our Giraffe Feeding presented by Chick-fil-A happens daily from 9:30am-2:30pm during the summer. A giraffe's foot-and-a-half long tongue can nimbly strip leaves and fruits from a branch. | Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
