The National Hockey League has reportedly closed their investigation into the Edmonton Oilers and their usage of the Long Term Injured Reserve for former winger Evander Kane.

Evander Kane's time with the Edmonton Oilers is at an end and the news came about in a pretty unique way. On Wednesday morning, Kane himself broke the news of his own trade mere moments after NHL insiders hinted at the potential for a deal to send the Oilers forward to the Vancouver Canucks.

The fact that Edmonton managed to clear the entirety of Kane's salary, and get a fourth-rounder in return, is truly remarkable.
