The Israeli military said seven soldiers were killed in a single attack in southern Gaza on Tuesday, the military's deadliest day in the territory since it broke a ceasefire with Hamas in March.

President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, after more than a week of fighting following Israel's strikes -- and subsequent U.S. attacks -- on Iran's nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the ceasefire with Iran unveiled by U.S. President Donald Trump and said he had agreed to it, but warned his country would "respond forcefully to any violation".
