Rochester-based health system will provide guidance on the development of “affordable” hospital sites in two of India’s largest cities.

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani on Monday said his family will invest over 60 billion rupees ($686.18 million) to launch two affordable health campuses in Mumbai and Ahmedabad in consultation with the U.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, announced the launch of Adani Health City (AHC) integrated health campuses, to be implemented through the Group's not-for-profit healthcare arm.

Adani Group—controlled by ports-to-power billionaire Gautam Adani—said the Adani family will donate up to $686 million to build two not-for-profit hospitals in partnership with the U.S.-based Mayo Clinic Global Consulting.

The Adani Group is set to join hands with the US' Mayo Clinic to launch hospitals and medical education campuses in India, investing a staggering $1.6 billion in the first phase of the partnership.

Billionaire Gautam Adani announced Monday that he is partnering with Mayo Clinic and investing $686 million toward building two nonprofit 1,000-bed hospitals and medical schools in India.

Each AHC campus will comprise 1,000-bed multi-super-specialty hospitals, medical colleges with an annual intake of 150 undergraduates, over 80 residents and over 40 fellows.

The family will donate upwards of Rs 6,000 crore to build the first two of these integrated health campuses in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the statement added.
