Despite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to step back from their royal roles, the British monarch has limited power when it comes to stripping royal titles.

Prince William reportedly plans to strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of their HRH tiles when he becomes king, over concerns that Meghan has violated an agreement with the late Queen Elizabeth II and is using the title for commercial purposes.

Meghan Markle is catching heat for referring to herself by her former royal title in a gift to a friend. “I find it a little cringe to give a gift to a close friend and sign it, ‘Her Royal Highness,’” The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said on Tuesday’s show.
