Police have been granted extra stop-and-search powers in an area of Manchester after two separate assaults in the past 24 hours in which a knife or sharp instrument was used.A 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were found with stab wounds in Stockport Road,

Police said a 39-year-old woman, a German national, was arrested at the scene. They believe after watching video footage that she acted alone.
