A man who was believed to have been running from a raid by US immigration agents died Thursday after being hit by a car on a freeway, police said. City managers in Monrovia, near Los Angeles, said police had been called after there were reports of activity by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at a Home Depot.

Several dozen people gathered outside a Home Depot in Monrovia, California, on Thursday evening to protest federal immigrations raids, including one that led to the death of a day labor hours earlier,

"The company has made significant changes to labor practices that are above and beyond legal requirements," Glass House Brands Inc. said in a statement.
