Doug Kiker of 'American Idol' fame is dead. The 'Singing Garbage Man' made it to Hollywood, was eliminated early, then came back to sing with Rascal Flatts.

The man who wowed judges on “American Idol” and nicknamed the singing garbage man has died. Doug Kiker was 32. Kiker’s former fiancée Valerie Cook confirmed his death, as did his brother and mother, but an official cause of death was not released.

Post-American Idol, Kiker teased a potential movie project about his life and performed at local venues in Mobile, Alabama
