Speaking at the New York premiere of the documentary about his life and work, Connected Worlds, Kojima was asked what he wants to achieve in the future. In response, he said that "I want to go to outer space. I want to go to outer space and create a game you can play in space. So please someone send me up to space."

Hideo Kojima has said he is “bummed” every Death Stranding 2 Easter Egg is being spoiled, but admits he is partly to blame.

For Kojima, those experiences led to a different approach for the sequel. His own sense of isolation that arose from having to develop Death Stranding 2 with a remote team saw him reconsidering its tale — yet it’s also this isolation that led to Kojima realizing the perils of digital connectivity.
