After an almost monthlong standoff between House Republicans and Democrats, lawmakers announce a new agreement

On the 24th day of the 2025 legislative session, the Minnesota House got to work — for real this time. State of play: For the first time in over three weeks, enough members showed up at the Capitol to officially gavel in the 134-member chamber and get to business.

A tense fight over party control of the Minnesota House ended with a power-sharing agreement this week. But hard feelings could remain.

The Minnesota House is officially duly convened. DFL members returned to the chamber Thursday after a months-long holdout, where the party denied the chamber quorum in hopes of forcing a power-sharing agreement.
