In an interview with ESPN published Thursday, Manning touched on myriad topics ahead of his first season as Texas’ starting quarterback. The former five-star recruit was Quinn Ewers’ backup during the 2024 season and is set to be Texas’ No. 1 QB in 2025 with Ewers off to the NFL.
Allen was the No. 7 overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft. A three-time Pro Bowler, Allen finished the 2024 season with 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 531 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
Manning, the highly touted quarterback from the famed Manning family, said Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian played a key role in his decision. “Coach Sark just told me to be myself and be a leader and work hard, and it’ll all work out,” Manning said.
