Hersheypark’s wave pool on Thursday, where a 9-year-old girl died, was teeming with people trying to stay cool as temperatures rose into the 90s, according to an eyewitness who spoke with PennLive.

Officials say a nine-year-old child died at the waterpark in Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

“Our thoughts and our hearts are with the family and friends of this young life, lost too soon,” police said in a statement Friday morning, July 25.
