The Boston Red Sox may not have solved their first base crisis on Thursday, but they made an effort toward doing so. Boston traded cash to the Los Angeles Angels to acquire Ryan Noda. Noda, 29, previously played for the Oakland Athletics.

On Friday, in the Boston Red Sox's first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles, starting third baseman Alex Bregman was forced to exit in the fifth inning with what the team called right quad tightness.

I don't think the Red Sox were wrong to ask. I do think they're owed much of the blame in Devers' refusal to acquiesce. Keep in mind, it seems like Boston didn't approach Devers about changing positions until after Alex Bregman had signed -- that despite being connected to Bregman all offseason.
