Skubal, who won the Cy Young Award last season, could do something not seen in more than a quarter century by winning it again.

Skubal and the Tigers agreed to a one-year, $10.15 million contract on Jan. 9, avoiding arbitration for the defending American League Cy Young winner. Skubal is under team control through the 2026 season, meaning he will become a free agent ahead of 2027 unless he and the team can agree on a contract extension.
