India's cricket board defended its World-Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma on Monday after comments about his lack of fitness from a spokesperson for the Congress, the country's main opposition party.

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has given his property on rent in Lower Parel, Mumbai, for Rs. 2.60 lakh per month, as per the property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards on the website of the Inspector General of Registration.

The Congress party on Monday directed its national spokesperson, Shama Mohamed, to delete her social media post fat-shaming Indian captain Rohit Sharma following widespread criticism from political circles and the sports fraternity.
