The Pac-12 Conference has extended an offer to Texas State to join the league in July 2026, and barring any late changes, the school is expected to officially accept the invitation on Monday, according to multiple people briefed on the Pac-12’s decision. The Austin Sports Journal first reported the news.

The Pac-12 Conference is clawing back from near extinction, adding Texas State as its eighth football-playing member. Six other schools will join in 2026.

Texas State began the process of calling a Monday meeting of the university’s Board of Regents to formally accept the Pac-12’s invitation, according to The Austin Sports Journal. Additionally, university officials began to alert its current conference, the Sun Belt, of the Pac-12’s offer and its intention to accept it.
