Some 700 Marines have been activated to join National Guard troops in Los Angeles, two U.S. officials told CBS News.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is pushing back on the deployment of National Guard troops in her city, saying things were peaceful before immigration agents began rounding up people late last week.

State AG Rob Bonta accused the federal government of infringing on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s authority as commander-in-chief of the California National Guard.
