The European Union has announced sweeping new sanctions against Russia, marking a first by targeting entities in India. EU diplomat Kaja Kallas revealed the measures, which include sanctions on a Rosneft-operated refinery in Gujarat.

The 18th package of sanctions against Russia includes more than a hundred "shadow fleet" vessels, a reduction in the price ceiling on Russian oil, and measures against banks and companies outside Russia that are involved in supporting its war machine.
