Harris County is facing a $270 million budget deficit and officials will have to either cut back on spending or raise taxes in fiscal year 2026, Judge Lina Hidalgo said at Thursday's Commissioners Court meeting.

The pressure was on for commissioners to take up immediate discussions about clearing a path to pay parity for deputies after the Houston City Council approved a five-year, $832 million contract for the city's police officers.

Sharolen Roque, 15, was last seen with 20-year-old Mauricio Ramos, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
