(AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians play on Wednesday with the three-game series tied 1-1. Arizona has a 31-31 record in home games and a 61-66 record overall. Diamondbacks hitters are batting a collective .251, the eighth-best team batting average in MLB play.
The Diamondbacks tied up the series with a late night thriller of a victory, 6-5, over the Guardians. Cleveland falls to 1-4 over the last five games with the loss, while Arizona is 1-4 in that same span after the win. The rubber match is set and this is the final meeting of the season between the two.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drove in three runs, Jake McCarthy hit a solo homer and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Cleveland Guardians 6-5.
CJ Kayfus and Brayan Rocchio homered, Gavin Williams pitched 5⅓ scoreless innings and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Arizona Diamondbacks Aug. 18.
