Chattanooga firefighters from the Swiftwater Rescue Team pulled six people from a van stranded at Davidson Road and Gunbarrel Road where rising water from an overflowing creek nearly swept the vehicle away, according to a social media post from the department. No injuries were reported.

Deadly flash floods inundated the Chattanooga region Tuesday night, and more heavy rain was falling Wednesday, threatening to produce more dangerous conditions across Tennessee and other parts of the southern Appalachian region.

Rescue crews pulled people out of submerged cars and homes overnight as floods swept the southeastern part of the state.
