Wildfire smoke has sparked the national weather agency to issue air quality warnings around the county of Grande Prairie and the northwestern corner of Alberta, and air quality statements for much of northern Alberta.

Smoke from wildfires in northern Alberta and northeastern B.C. was expected to reach Calgary this weekend, with forecasters warning of worsening air quality in the city. An evacuation order for parts of the County of Grande Prairie was expanded again late Friday,

Poor air quality fuelled by wildfires burning across the Prairies left a large swath of the country enveloped in a haze again on Saturday, but Environment Canada said the situation is expected to improve over the weekend.
