It was another ugly night for the Sabres, who were taken to task by frustrated head coach Lindy Ruff after their loss to the Sharks.
The Buffalo Sabres could not keep pace with the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night, as they put up a lackluster performance in a 6-2 loss at KeyBank Center. Pat Malacaro has a complete game recap:
With goalie Vitek Vanecek held out of the game for trade-related reasons, the Sharks got third period goals from William Eklund, Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith and Tyler Toffoli to help seal a 6-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center.
San Jose led 10-5 in shots in the period, four of which came on its two power plays. Celebrini led the way with seven shot attempts, including one that hit the post and another that deflected off the crossbar during the final minute.
San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic has broken the NHL shot-blocking record, surpassing the mark set by Mark Giordano.
