OTTAWA — The idea of becoming prime minister of Canada in a matter of weeks despite having never won an election does not seem to worry former central banker Mark Carney, who says he has started at the top many times in his career.

If Mark Carney wins the Liberal Party of Canada's leadership race, he would become prime minister without being a member of Parliament -- a situation some social media users claim would keep him from setting foot in the House of Commons.

“This decision raises significant questions about the legitimacy of the leadership race and, by extension, the legitimacy of the next prime minister of Canada,” Arya said in a social media statement on Sunday.
