Jose Altuve is expected to play mostly in left field this season even though the Astros didn't acquire a clear replacement at second base.

Jose Altuve has remained the one constant for the Houston Astros since his arrival in 2011. Gone are players like Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa that brought the Astros their first championship in 2017.

Alex Bregman leaving the Houston Astros has been the biggest story surrounding the Houston organization this offseason. But Altuve's position change is a close second, and his spring training debut in left field was a bit anti-climactic.

Back in January, long-time Houston Astros second baseman, Jose Altuve, was rumored to be considering a position change with the potential of Alex Bregman returning to the organization.

A nine-time All-Star, three-time batting champion and the 2017 AL MVP, Altuve has played all but two of his 1,767 major league games at second base. He won the Gold Glove in 2015 and in 2020 led the AL with the fewest errors there, with four.
