Booting from an XP setup CD still leaves the keyboard unresponsive. Or rather, the PS/2 ports are not working. <BR><BR>You could switch to USB hardware.

Maybe windows it hibernating, or your machine is going into suspend mode. The only way I know of that wakes your machine up with keyboard or mouse is when your machine is in sleep mode.
