The Madre fire has grown to 70,800 acres in San Luis Obispo County, making it the largest blaze in the state this year.

F irefighters have gained full containment of the 83-acre Smiley Fire that burned near the Riverside and San Bernardino county line, which was ignited on Saturday. It was first reported at around 2:30 p.m. near San Timoteo Canyon Road and Smiley Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
