The Washington Capitals host the San Jose Sharks after the Capitals beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime

After finishing the 2024-25 season with the league's worst record and 52 points, the Sharks have flipped the script as they have 49 points through 45 games and entered Wednesday in playoff position in the Western Conference. San Jose will be looking to use its youthful offense to it advantage on Thursday against the host Washington Capitals.

"He's potential for tomorrow," coach Spencer Carbery said, hinting tha tWilson could return as the Capitals play host to the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks could be on the verge of welcoming several key players back from injury as they embark on their upcoming road trip. Defensemen Shakir Mukhamadullin and Vincent Desharnais, along with forward Will Smith, will all travel with the team, signaling that their returns may not be far off.

Alex Ovechkin scored twice, giving him 911 career goals, and Matt Roy had three assists for the Capitals (17-9-2), who have won six straight. Brandon Duhaime had a goal and an assist, and Dylan Strome also scored. Charlie Lindgren made 23 saves.
