The NWS says it'll be the coldest airmass to reach the Twin Cities since January 2019.

While temperatures are plunging far below zero across Minnesota, a large winter storm will dump “crippling” snow, ice and cold from the southern plains through Ohio and into the Mid-Atlantic this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. As a result, widespread heating needs have made the wholesale price of natural gas rise.

Several agencies and organizations in the Twin Cities are providing spaces for people who are looking for a place to keep warm during temps later this week that will be the coldest we've felt this season.

Minnesota woke up to one of its coldest mornings of the winter so far, with an overnight low of -8 and a wind chill of -32.
