In Israel, at least 10 people were killed in Iranian strikes overnight and into Sunday, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service, bringing the country’s total death toll to 13. The country’s main international airport and airspace remained closed for a third day.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) says it has destroyed "dozens" of radars and surface-to-air missile launchers as part of the attacks on Iran's air defence systems in the west of the country. Calling it a "large-scale strike", the IAF says this forms part of ongoing operations to damage Iran's air defence systems and those of its proxies.
"The full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before," Trump warned.
Israel decimated the group’s leadership last fall and degraded its military capabilities. Can the same strategy work against a far more powerful foe?
The IDF says Iran has launched about 100 drones towards its territory and says it killed Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami in overnight strikes.
Israel’s ambassador to the United States said Sunday that Israel was not looking to limit or quickly finish up its war with Iran. “The objective is not to contain the war. The objective is to win the war,” Ambassador Yechiel Leiter said to host Martha Raddatz on ABC’s “This Week.”
Iran will continue its military operations until Israel regrets its actions, the spokesperson for Iran's Armed Forces General Staff, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, said on Saturday. Speaking to Iranian state television, Shekarchi commented on Israel's recent attack against Iran and Tehran's subsequent response.
Israel launched “preemptive” strikes early Friday across Iran, amid growing regional tensions and concerns about Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The retaliatory strikes came on Saturday, a day after Israel killed top Iranian military leaders and scientists and destroyed an aboveground nuclear enrichment plant near Natanz.
The strikes are a sign of Israel’s shift away from restraint, containment and short wars, and toward using force to project power across the Middle East.
