The number of immigration detainees without criminal records held in detention after getting arrested by ICE has increased by over 2,000% since the start of the second Trump administration.

ICE said Wednesday that a man arrested by agents Tuesday in a St. Paul neighborhood entered the U.S. illegally from Honduras. Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Minnesota charged another man with assault of a federal officer in the incident, saying he did so by striking an ICE officer’s vehicle.

The university placed the associate professor on administrative leave after learning he was arrested by federal immigration agents earlier this month.

The 66-page decision came three weeks after four immigrants testified that ICE agents had arrested them without warrants and without first checking to see whether they were likely to flee.
