Moreau was 60 and a 35-year member of the Plainville Fire Department. A state police spokesman said Moreau, a veteran, was struck by a piece of apparatus that broke free at the fire scene. He died later at the hospital during surgery, state police said. He was described as a loving husband and dedicated volunteer.
Following the passing of Plainville volunteer firefighter Ray Moreau on Sunday, Gov. Ned Lamont announced that flags will fly at half-staff across the state. Flags are ordered to fly at half-staff effective immediately and remain lowered until sunset on the day of interment.
