For round-robin games, overtime will be held in a 10-minute, 3-on-3 sudden-death period, followed by a three-round shootout. In the final, full 20-minute, five-on-five periods will be played until a goal scored.

The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off is officially here. This year, replacing the usual NHL All-Star Game, the league has put together the top players from four countries for a week-plus tournament. The tournament features NHL players from four hockey powers — the United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweden — competing in a round-robin format. It has replaced this year's All-Star game and is being used partially as a build-up to the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be the first including NHL players since 2014.
