The Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission held a public hearing Monday night to discuss a proposal to decrease supply prices for summer rates.

Skyrocketing electric bills are leaving Rhode Island Energy customers fed up and confused. While rates are set to decrease by about 17% for the summer starting April 1, some charges on electric bills are going up.

Rhode Island Energy officials discussed gas and electric rates statewide Monday at a public meeting in Warwick, with residents voicing their frustrations.

At a standing-room only hearing, more than 180 customers of Rhode Island Energy complained about their skyrocketing bills this winter.

The Public Utilities Commission will meet on Monday to discuss Rhode Island Energy's utility rates. Many customers have reached out to NBC 10 in recent months about their high energy bills. A rally is expected to happen right before the meeting tonight where the PUC meets on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.
