The National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating Saturday's deadly crash of a Mexican Navy tall ship into New York's Brooklyn Bridge, is focused on the ship's guide tugboats and sudden acceleration.

Investigators are determined to figure out why the ship accelerated backwards, directly into the Brooklyn Bridge with 277 sailors and naval officers onboard.

The Cuauhtémoc remains docked off Pier 37 as work crews shore up the ship’s three splintered masts before it taken to a nearby salvage yard.
