Sinners passes a global box office milestone in its fifth weekend that sees it approaching being one of the highest-grossing horror movies in history.

With no new nationwide event pic on the marquee, Marvel Studios' ensemble superhero pic easily stayed No. 1 in its second weekend. 'Friendship' makes plenty of pals at the specialty box office.

Given the latest box office figures for Sinners and Thunderbolts*, it seems the Ryan Coogler vampire pic is on pace to outgross Marvel's high budget superhero team up this weekend.

The horror movie from Ryan Coogler is on a pace to collect at least $330 million in worldwide ticket sales, a level reached by few original films in the genre.

Coleman attributes the word-of-mouth success of “Sinners” to one simple fact: It’s a good movie. Combine that with Coogler’s track record and a star lead actor in Michael B. Jordan, and success seems inevitable. But audiences and reviewers seem shocked when a scary movie becomes popular, even though it’s a fairly common occurrence.

Sinners is a bona fide blockbuster. It has now earned over $215 million domestically and a total of around $285 million globally. That makes it one of the most successful original live-action films in many, many years.
