STATE COLLEGE – Once Amare Campbell placed his name in the transfer portal in April, it didn’t take long for linebackers coach Dan Connor to know that he wanted him at Penn State.
Campbell (6-0, 230 pounds) made 76 tackles and 6.5 sacks for the Tar Heels as a sophomore last season. He also made 10.5 tackles for loss, broke up two passes and forced a fumble.
Campbell ultimately picked Penn State over SMU, which also received a visit from the Virginia product. Campbell totaled 76 tackles and 6.5 sacks for North Carolina during the 2024 season.
